These are the two options that an admin has when defining the Visit Duration in a Maps Advanced Visit Plan. Visit Duration is the amount of time that a user plans to spend at each stop on their route. The admin can configure the Visit Duration for a routable object in two ways:

The admin can select a field from the routable object that contains the duration value, such as a custom field or a standard field like Estimated Travel Time. The field must be a number or text field that contains only numbers.

The admin can enter any length of time in minutes in the Visit Duration field on the Maps Advanced Route Waypoint object. The Visit Duration field is a number field that accepts values from 1 to 1440 (24 hours). The admin cannot use fixed values like 60 minutes or 30 minutes as options for defining the Visit Duration, as these are not configurable options in Maps Advanced. The Visit Duration must be either a field from the routable object or a value entered in the Visit Duration field on the Maps Advanced Route Waypoint object.

A user can plot a Live Layer in Maps for three main purposes. One is to dispatch the ne arest driver to a service call, which can help optimize routing and scheduling. Another is to validate a driver’s location in the event of an emergency, which can help ensure safety and security. A third is to see any occurrences of speeding events for a g iven Live Asset, which can help monitor performance and compliance. These purposes are explained in the  Create Live Layers  docu ment.

To see the five most recent Opportunities when a Sales Rep selects a pin from an Account Marker Layer, the developer should use the Related List Tab on the Marker Layer configuration. This tab allows the developer to add related objects to the marker layer and display them as a list when a pin is clicked. The developer can choose “Opportunities” from the “Add New” drop down and increment the Display counter to “5” to show only the five most recent Opportunities. The Re lated List Tab is explained in the  Explore Salesforce Maps on Desktop  unit.

According to the Salesforce Maps Configuration module on Trailhead 1 , to create multiple visit windows for different types of visits, y ou need to create two lookup fields on the Account object to the Visit Window object. This way, you can assign different visit windows to different routable records.

According to the Salesforce Help article on Compare Maps Route and Schedule 3 , the optimization engine in Territory Planning takes into account three factors: Areas/Units in Focus, Geography, and Selected Optimization Field/Attribute. These factors help you design optimal territories based on your business goals and constraints.

Salesforce Maps Live Tracking allows users to track the live and historical locations of vehicles , equipment, and users in the field. To generate reports on the distance driven by each sales rep, the admin needs to use the Maps Live Asset Daily Summary object. This object contains the summary data for each asset, such as the total distance, duration, and fuel consumption for a given day. The admin can create a report on this object and group it by the asset name or driver name to see the total mileage driven by each sales rep on their team. These are the three steps that the admin must complete to include their custom object Alpine Customers in Maps Advanced routing.  According to the article "Configure custom routable object for Maps Advanced" 1 , a routable o bject is an object that represents the location users will navigate to within their Salesforce Maps Advanced Visit Plans, such as Accounts.  To configure a custom object as a routable object, the admin needs to create a lookup relationship field on the Maps Advanced Route Waypoint object that points to the custom object 1 .  The admin also needs to create a custom report type for the custom ob ject in order to import the customer list for routing 2 .  Additionally, the admin needs to ensure that all records of the custom object have geocodes (latitude/longitude values ) assigned, as this is required for plotting them on the map and routing them 3 .  Making sure that Click2Create is configured for Alpine Customers is not a necessary step, as Click2Create is a feature that allows users to create records directly from the map view, not t o include them in routing 4 .  Ensuring that users are assigned to the records or related records they want to route via user lookup field is also not a necessary step, as this is only required for Enterprise Territory Management integration, not for routing 5 .

According to the Salesf orce Help document  1 , this error means that the user specified in the file does not match an existing Salesforce User. The admin needs to make sure that the user name or ID in the file is correct and that the user has access to Territory Planning.

According to the Trailhead module on Configure for Location Accuracy Unit 3 , one of the actions that an admin should do to ensure their Salesforce records plot in the correct location on the map is to confirm that eac h object to be used within Salesforce Maps has geolocation or number fields for latitude and longitude coordinates.  These fields store the location data for each record and allow Salesforce Maps to read them when plotting data on the map 3 . Another action that an admin should do is to confirm that every record has a complete and valid address.  This will help Salesforce Maps to geocode the records accurately and place them on the map based on their address fields 4 .

The sales manager is unable to publish the alignment because they only have Commenter access to the alignment, the alignment must be submitted for approval before publishing, and the alignment must be approved before it can b e published. These are the three possible reasons that prevent the sales manager from publishing the alignment to Salesforce Maps. Commenter access only allows users to view and comment on alignments, but not edit or publish them. Submitting and approving alignments are required steps for publishing alignments if Alignment Approval is enabled in the org. These are explained in the  Con trol Access to Alignments  and  Set Up a Process for Alignment Approvals and Publishing  documents.

When deploying a Salesforce Maps solution, there are three considerations an admin should take:

A. Train users before they go into the production org. This is a best practice for any Salesforce implementation project, as it helps to prepare the users for the new features and functionalities, and ensure a smo oth adoption and transition.  Training can include hands-on exercises, demos, videos, guides, and quizzes to test the users’ knowledge and skills 1 .

C. Make sure permission sets for users and profiles are maintained and migrated. This is important to ensure that the users have the appropriate access and visibility to the Salesforce Maps features and data, such as layers, routes, schedules, territories, and live tracking.  Permission sets can be created and assigned to users or profiles based on their roles and responsibilities 2 .  Permission sets can also be migrated from one org to another using change sets or other deployment tools 3 .

D. Get provisions of all the appropriate licenses. This is essential to enable the users to use Salesforce Maps in their org. There are different types of licenses for Salesforce Maps, such as Maps User License, Map s Live User License, Maps Mobile User License, and Maps Territory Planning User License.  Each license grants access to differen t features and functionalities of Salesforce Maps 4 . The admin should request the appropriate number and type of licenses from S alesforce before deploying the solution.

heatmap is a render mode that can display closely-related markers colored according to their density. A heatmap is a graphical representation of data where the individual values contained in a matrix are represented as colors. A heatmap can show the intensity of data points in an area, such as the number of customers or sales volume.

An administrator can assign users to a Maps Advanced Visit Plan by either selecting user profiles or individual users from the Users tab in the Visit Plan configuration. This is explained in the  Assign Users to Your Visit Plan  sectio n of the Salesforce Help Docs.

To view household demographic data in the US, such as income, age, education, and populati on, the sales rep can use the Demographic Layers feature in Salesforce Maps. This feature allows the user to overlay demographic data on top of their existing data layers and visualize them with different colors and shapes. The Demographic Layers feature i s described in the  Get to Know Salesforce Maps  unit.

Because Salesforce Maps is an installed package, its data and configurations cannot be moved via change sets. Change sets can only move metadata components between orgs, not data records or custom settings. Therefore, the Maps Administrator should consider recreating the Salesforce Maps data and configurations by hand in the destination org, or u sing a third-party tool or API to automate the process. According to the Salesforce Maps documentation 1 , to create a data layer, the admin must first select either the Personal or Corporate folder in the Layers tab. The Personal folder is for saving data layers privately so only the admin can see them, while the Corporate folder is for sharing data layers with other maps user s. After selecting a folder, the admin can hover over New and select Data Layer, then name the data layer and select the data source, filter, and style options. If the admin does not select a folder before attempting to create a layer, all of the options w ill be greyed out and unavailable.  References :

According to the Trailhead module  2 , there are two possible reasons for missing markers on mobile devices compared to desktop devices. One is that the maximum r ecords to plot setting for mobile is considerably less compared to desktop, which means that only a subset of records will be plotted on the map. The other is that the plot visible area feature is enabled, which means that only the records that fall within the current map view will be plotted.

Automatic route re-optimization is a feature that requires purchasing Salesforce Maps Advanced. This feature allows users to automatically adjust their rout es based on real-time traffic conditions, customer availability, and other factors. This feature can help users save time, fuel, and money by finding the most efficient routes for their visits. This feature is explained in the  Salesforce Maps Products  document.

The implementation team is responsible for business and IT sanity testing post deployment to production. Sanity testing is a type of software testing executed on the stable build of an application with minor code changes. It is also kn own as surface-level testing.  A sanity test is performed to ensure the application works as expected after the bug fixes or changes in the code 1 .  The implementation team, which consists of developers, testers, and business analysts, conducts sanity testing to verify the functionality and performance of the application after deployment 2 . The project manager, the Salesforce support team, and the customer are not directly involved in sanity testing post deployment.

Defining customer user stories is the process of identifying which user stories the implementation team will build based on the customer’s needs and priorities. Designing customer user stories is the process of determining how the implementation team wi ll build the user stories based on the best practices and technical specifications. This is explained in the  Salesforce Maps Implementation Methodology  document.

One way to ensure that the reps are only focusing on marketing qualified leads in the field is to create a data set with filtering to include only those leads that meet the criteria for marketing qualification.  A data set is a collection of records from Salesforce that can be plotted on the map and used for routing and scheduling 4 . To create a data set, the user can go to the Data Sets tab in Maps Advanced, click New, and select the object type, suc h as Lead. Then, the user can choose a report or a list view as the data source, and apply filters to narrow down the records based on various attributes, such as Pardot score, industry, or account type. The user can also select which fields to display in the data set, such as name, email, or phone number.  After creating and saving the data set, the user can plot it on the map and see only the marketing qualified leads in their territory 5 . This way, the reps can focus their efforts on the most relevant and engaged prospects for their sales goals.  References :

According to the Salesforce Maps documentation 1 , when using the limit areas by attribute option during an optimization, some units may be trimmed from the areas and assigned to a specific area or the unassigned bucket, depending on the leftover unit assignment setting. To visualize these lef tover units, the user must open the alignment using the “Include Unassigned Units” option, which will display all units in the data set, regardless of whether they are assigned to an area or not.  This option can be found in the Alignment Settings window, under the Data tab 2 . By selecting this option, the user can see the leftover units on the map and in the legend, and decide how to handle them.  References :

The Publish to Salesforce Maps option is not turned on in the Publish options of the Maps configuration. This option allows users to publish their alignments to Salesforce Maps as Shape Layers and Auto Assignment rules. If this option is not enabled, users will not see Salesforce Maps as a publishing option in Territory Planning. This is explained in the  Configure Options for Publishing Alignments   document.

To avoid redrawing the existing territory boundaries every time they create a new data set and alignment, Alpine Energy can use the Import from Alignment feature in Territory Planning. This feature allows the customer to import an existing territory model and boundary assignments from another alignment that uses the same territory boundaries as the new data set. This way, the customer can save time and effort by reusing their previous territory design and making adjustments as needed. To use this feature, the customer can follow these steps:

Click the Territory Planning tab to launch the app and display the Browser window.

Hover over an active data set and click the + symbol to add a new alignment.

Enter a Name and Description (optional) for the alignment and click Next.

In the Create Alignment window, select Import Model | Import from Alignment | Next.

Select an existing alignment from which to import the model and boundary assignments.

Click Import.

Users can create and edit a Route or Schedule from both desktop and mobile devices using Salesforce Maps.  On the desktop, users can access the Routes tab to create a new route, import events from their Salesforce calendar, add markers, favorite locations, or points of interest, optimize the route, lock the stop order, and print or email the route 1 .  On the mobile device, users can access the Routes feature to create a new route, add accounts or contacts from their map or list view, optimize the route, lock the stop order, and get directions using their preferred navigation app 2 .  Users can also sync their routes between desktop and mobile devices 3 .  References :

there are three configurations that each user assigned to a Maps Advanced Visit Plan must complete before routes can be generated.  One is to indicate working hours 4 .  Another is to set the start and end locations 4 .  The third is to indicate working days

The user should tap the refresh button located at the bottom of the map to display additional accounts. This button reloads the marker layer data based on the current map view and filters. This is useful when the user changes the map view by zooming in or out, or panning across the map. This is explai ned in the  Interact with Salesforce Maps on Mobile  document.
